Clover Fields Forever

Type: Landscape Urbanism

Medium: Rhino + Grasshopper (Ladybug + Monolith) + Blender + Photoshop + Illustrator

Year: 2020
The project begins with an interest in the natural patterns of Trifolium Repens, known also as white clover. This project utilizes the intricacies of the flower commonly found in Alberta as a springboard to imagine and inspire a new movement towards solarpunk urbanism in Calgary.

Though projective and sort of sci-fi in nature, the project addresses a timely concern and proposes a shift in thinking in Calgary by integrating landscape techniques, urban farming, pedestrian-centric transportation, solar equity, green building technology, a safe haven for climate refugees, and more. So, beginning from the interface of land to water, flows of people to site, and site to city, exposing the ephemeral, yet grounded nature of the white clover, is just the beginning of a new condition for clover fields forever.

"Will the city disappear or will the whole planet turn into a vast urban hive? – which would be another mode of disappearance." -Louis Mumford, “Chapter One: Sanctuary, Village, and Stronghold” in The City in History: Its Origins, Its Transformations, and Its Prospects (1961)
